Your Guide to Eyelash Extensions

Eyelash Extensions Kapiti Lash extensions have gained massive popularity around the world in the past year, and it’s easy to see why. Eliminating the need to use makeup, eyelash extensions can give you luscious, thick, natural looking lashes that last up to 4 weeks.

What are eyelash extensions?

They are semi-permanent individual extensions that are adhered to your natural lashes to darken, extend and add volume. They come in a variety of thicknesses and lengths, allowing the option of a more natural or dramatic effect.

Your lash technician will help to determine which lashes will work best for you – as some natural lashes can only handle a certain weight.

What’s involved in the application?

It’s actually a very luxurious process – quite enjoyable in-fact! You’ll lie down on the bed, close your eyes and enjoy up to an hour and a half of calming music while your lash technician applies the lashes.

The lashes are applied one by one using a specially formulated glue that won’t damage your natural lash or irritate your eyes.

How long do they last?

Your lash extensions will last anywhere from 2 to 4 weeks – all depending on how well you care for them. Generally, your natural lash will grow out and shed the extension before the glue gives out.

We recommend popping back into the salon every 2 weeks for a infills to keep your eyelashes looking full and beautiful.

How do I best care for them?

You can maximise the results and prolong the life of your lash extensions by committing to these aftercare instructions:

Immediately after getting lash extensions:

  • Do not get lashes wet for 24 hours
  • Don’t engage in exercise or activity that makes you sweat
  • Avoid hot steam and saunas
  • Use a water based makeup remover to cleanse lashes after 24 hours
  • Do not perm, tint or use a curler on your lashes

Maintaining your lash extensions:

  • Avoid rubbing your eyes
  • If using mascara, only use a water based or oil free one
  • Use a clean mascara wand to brush back any stray lashes into place
  • Use lash serum to maintain the strength of your natural lashes (we highly recommend LiLash)

It’s important not to attempt to remove the lashes yourself. This can cause damage to your natural lashes, therefore we recommend getting a professional to remove them.
