WELCOME TO SOPHORA
My name is Kirsty Ethynes and I own and operate this wonderful beauty and wellness centre.
Before opening our doors I worked as wholesaler of tanning, beauty and light therapy products & equipment. I felt red light therapy was so amazing, but few people knew about the benefits of full body red light sessions, I wanted to share it directly with clients – so when my partner & I moved to Paraparaumu in 2013, I founded Sophora Rejuvenation.
I’m passionate about offering science backed, non-invasive treatments and high-quality more natural products. With years of experiences in skincare, tanning and light therapies it’s a pleasure to share my knowledge and expertise with every client who walks through our doors.
Of course I can’t do it alone – Sophora is a team of amazing qualified therapists who will look after you with friendly, professional and consistently good service.
The Sophora name
Sophora is the botanical name for Kowhai. We started using the Kowhai flower in our company logo back in 2006 because, at that time, we sat in our office and looked out at a magnificent Kowhai tree that would attract up to a dozen pairs of Tui in the flowering season.
We love the linkage with using the logo both for the company and our beauty salon and we think Sophora has a beautiful ring to it.

Our skin is what holds us together, acts as our waterproofing and insulating shield, it regulates body temperature, protects us from sunlight, produces Vitamin D and so much more.
Our skin is not only exposed to the many stresses of the environment, it gets stressed from what we put in and on our bodies and of course, age.
